1.6.7 Beta 1—“Solo” button on Layer Properties?

Recommended Posts

What does the new Solo button do, on Layer Options? It seems to temporarily hide any other layers. It doesn’t seem to be documented in Help, yet.

Also, Help states that the Lock button prevents editing —but really it just prevents moving/transforming a layer, right? You can still edit it.

Thanks.

The Solo Button does exactly what you describe, when you for example do composing you can temporally turn off all other distracting layers.

I think its more useful for Affinity Designer, but its a nice to have. :)

The Lock Button or do you mean Alpha Lock? The lock button is 'Lock Selection' to avoid you accidentally selecting it whilst editing on the document. You can still edit the Layer like you said.

Thanks for the explanations. Solo-ing is definitely nice to have.

Lock Selection is fine, but I wish there were a way to lock a layer to prevent any accidental editing, especially in a painting app (it’s less necessary in a vector app, since you can select and move whatever you added by mistake).

Puca,

Ref the Help and Locked description.

I state "Locking is useful when you need to prevent a layer from being moved or transformed unintentionally."

I' m Ok with that, but i'll update it to read...

"Locking is useful when you need to prevent a layer from being moved or transformed unintentionally. Editing of layer content is still possible."

Also..

Select Lock again to allow the layer content to be edited again.

to

Select Lock again to allow the layer content to be transformed again.

Btw, the solo functionality is added to help ready for the next beta. Docs see the features at the same time as the beta testers so there is an 'undocumented" period.

Regards

Thank you, Andy, that help text is much clearer. Great job.
