Smooth edges for a watermark logo

Hi, 

We have a logo watermark that we use in our videos that is on a transparent background.  The edges of the image appear slightly rough, and I am wondering if there is a way to smooth these out so the image has a more polished and finished look?

Looking at the pic, I suppose the logo started as a bitmap/pixel painting. A "magic wand" may have been used to select the background, and that was deleted and changed to a transparency. So, the rough edges are caused by whatever selection method was used having a tolerance that was to high. If that is the case, the selection method needs modification. Use a lower tolerance to grab some of the pixels that were close to the background. Then smooth the selection. Delete the background. You might then need to select the transparent area, invert the selection and add a very small amount of gaussian blur, .5 of a pixel, which will ever so slightly smudge the edge.

 

Or, of course, go old skool, do it all manually with the eraser.
