I was thinking on that just yesterday. I ain't complaining since Designer already has more than a reasonable amount of shape presets, pretty much on steroids, but I thought a Bolt Tool and Swirl Tool (spiral) would make good additions.

When you say Bolt Tool, I'm guessing you mean a tool that makes 3D spirals like the thread on a bolt (as opposed to flat spirals like the OP's example). Both of these would be good, but if a single tool were flexible enough we could create a screw thread that tapers towards the top and then rotate the view to turn it into a flat spiral.

Not quite. Although my response was to a spiral shape, I mentioned a bolt tool as a side note as something on the lines of a lightning bolt. That was more of something I was thinking on the side.

Anyhow, since this topic is on spirals, I think the idea of it appearing as a smart shape would come in handy because of the customization we could have. Imagine having a slider that would adjust how many loops go around and adjusts the space between them. The loops could range from say 4 to 20.

Something like this would be nice:

Oh neat. You have quite a lot of control with its functions.
