In photoshop you can make a new layer via copy.

Make selection then hit CMD+J for make a new layer with selected content

Is it possible to achieve the same using AD?

btw, what do you think about to merge vector and pixel persona in to one?

Shading is still more convenient using raster brushes.

Thank you.

Cmd+J also duplicates the selected layer/object in the Affinity apps, but if you've made a pixel selection you may need to rasterize the layer first (because an 'Image' layer is treated as a single object rather than a collection of discrete pixels).

I'm sure I'm not the only user who wouldn't welcome the merging of any of the existing personas. The whole idea is to keep the user interface from becoming too cluttered, and switching between personas is neither difficult nor time-consuming.

Copy-paste creates a new layer from copied stuff but as you point out selection from plain image layer tends to copy all layer content. But there is a nifty workaround – use command Copy Merged (cmd-shift-C) and you copy only selection! Done! (Personally I think this should be unnecessary as if there is an active selection copying should target only that, regardless that it is "image object".)

1. There is no Copy Merged in Affinity Designer, only in Affinity Photo.

2. Copy Merged does what the name implies: everything in all visible layers within the active selection are placed on the clipboard as a single merged pixel selection. It does not matter which (if any) layers are selected or if "Edit all layers" is enabled or not, & any part of vector objects within the active selection will be rasterized into the merged pixel selection along with everything else. It does not just target an image or any other layer.
