I opened a file in Affinity Designer (eye.afdesign) selected a group, copied it and then "File -> New from Clipboard".

This gives me a new document while eye.efdesign still being opened.

When I click on Eye in the above menu, I can switch back to the original eye.afdesign document with all unsaved modifications I made there still present.

But now my new document is gone, how can I switch back to the new document I just created?

Does Affinity Design support multiple documents? How do I switch between multiple open documents?

I just found it, switching between documents using macOS is only possible in "Separated Mode" (Window -> Separated Mode). When this is off, you can only switch between documents using the tabs of the app (which I didn't notice at first because the are so small and faded).
