AndyCapp Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 Hi folks, by accident I found out that those Live Filters from Affinity Photo are working very well also in the Designer environment. It's as simple as cut&paste a filter layer from a Photo project into a Designer project. I've tried to upload a small example with two effects... So why not make the filters available directly in the Designer Filter Menu? Best regards, AC Lens Effect.afdesign Quote
Alfred Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 Similarly, an Affinity Designer file including text on a path can be opened and tweaked in Affinity Photo. And when Affinity Publisher eventually arrives, its linked text frames will be editable in the other Affinity apps. Some new features such as bullets and numbering will be added to AD and APh after they’re introduced in APub, but it seems that it’s a deliberate decision on Serif’s part not to make all of the features available directly in any one app. Mithferion and ronnyb 2 Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.5.1 (iPad 7th gen)
ronnyb Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 It's for the sake of user experience and app focus. IMHO Affinity is doing this perfectly; you want to maintain full file format compatibility, but you don't want one app that has EVERYTHING, as that would overload the UI and the focus of each app. However, giving user's editability over all aspects of the file format in any of the apps is genius, and what sets Affinity apart, this and being able to save the Undo History across apps is also genius. It's the best of both worlds: full featured functionality across apps and focused apps uniquely tailored to their specific intended disciplines.
