App crashes when trying to use guided tutorial

Recommended Posts

I just downloaded the app and any time I try to use the guided tutorial it freezes or closes out on me. I haven’t had the chance to try anything else out yet because I don’t know how to.

Hey Astra22, welcome to the Affinity Forums.

What iPad are you using? At what point does it freeze? I have known it to crash when you aren't connected to the internet. This also means that the videos do not play as they are being pulled from the internet.

I am using the 2017 iPad Pro 12.9 and it is always connected to both WiFi and LTE. It is crashing while the first video loads or whenever it switches to the hands on part.

Thanks for getting back. I can't say I have experienced the crash with those conditions. Have you tried uninstalling the app and installing it again? On the desktop version we can do a soft reset but this isn't available on the iPad but the fresh install does the exact same thing.

Are any other apps running whilst you are using Affinity Photo?

I think the last point is what a lot of people heavy underestimate. It is still an iPad and while the raw processor speed is on paar with laptops nowadays, the ram is the limiting factor. Affinity is as far as I know the only full blown Desktop Class App on an iPad so it uses a huge amount of the 4GB of the newest iPad. 4 GB Ram is not a lot compared to Desktop. I think a lot of crashes people face is that they are used from their Phones to never close any app.

I can just highly recommend to close all Apps in the Background when you working with Affinity Photo, never had any crashes since then.
