Brian the Lion
Hi, Just bought a copy of Designer and Photo and in need of basis tutorials. When I go online the audio is ok but the tutorials are presented ‘out of focus’ difficult to read and a kaleidoscope of weird colours that make it very difficult follow. Is this happening just to me or is that just the way it is …? PS: Also found it very difficult to set up an account on this forum. Kept telling me that “my email address is used by another user” (seems to be some kind of cross wires between Serif and Affinity. Had to use an alternative email address which it eventually but reluctantly accepted. Not a great start for a first time user..!

And which browser are you using? It sounds like a decoding issue, but that kaleidoscope effect you describe is usually only prevalent for a few seconds at most. If you load up a video, click the little cog icon on the bottom right and choose a lower quality stream like 360p does the issue persist? Hope to hear back from you! Brian the Lion
Hi James and thanks for trying to point me in the right direction. The kaleidoscope i mentioned is probably better described as a green/purple overlay. I verified that the problem is not just confined to Affinity by playing another you tube video on a completely different topic and found that i was getting the same green/purple overlay result. I then googled the problem and found that it is a common problem and there are many different fixes. I'm using Firefox browser and the fix for me was to type in "about:config" then scroll down to "media.windows-media-foundation.use-re12-format" and change the setting from TRUE to FALSE. That fixed the problem.
