Recoloring changes when painting a mask

Recommended Posts

I recolored an image to a dark red, inverted it and started to paint the red areas in. I went to another image and did something and now the red is totally different!

I had not closed the image so I restarted the program with no effect. You can see the color change at the cursor

Just to bump this ... the issue struck me as potentially serious

Can you recreate the problem or was it just a one-off?

I cant recreate it

No way of telling. It is happening and that is the first time I have seen it.

The file is attached. The red on the barn seems to be the only one affected

Thanks for the response

Hello Rick,
I can, your problem does not really understand
I suspect, that you a layer have inadvertently changed or accidentally deleted.
I can not imagine anything else.
I have in your picture, a new adjustment level added, and there are no problems with the processing.

Best Regards

Gnobelix

I did not change a layer, delete anything nor accidentally add a blend mode. I was painting in the red and the red changed color. It is in the file I attached. The other recoloring layers were not affected

I have deleted the recoloring adjustment and redone it  but when the Serif people get a chance, it would be worth finding out what went wrong in this file. If it is corruption then I hope the keep in mind that it happened while working. It painted correctly, I changed the color to paint something out and when I changed back the color had changed

If it is user error I am more than happy to learn what I might have done wrong

I will observe this problem, because I do a lot with recolor.
If there are similar problems, I will report
Remains to hoping, it was a user error.

@Rick G

If you CTRL click on the thumbnails of the Recolour Adjustment layers you should see the selection for that layer shown in your document.

This works for all the Recolour Adjustment layers except the Red Barn one.

There's a clue there somewhere but I don't know what it is, yet.

I don't believe there is any issue here. Your original document you uploaded doesn't show the red dot like the screenshot does. The only thing that I can think has happened here is that you've accidentally adjusted the value of the Opacity slider either on the Brush Context Toolbar or on the Colour Panel.

Yet it is repeatable with that file here. Strange. I made a copy, deleted that adjustment and went on with no issues. IF I had inadvertantly changed opacity then it should have showed on your end when you loaded it should it not?

If it comes up again I will post it
