remove foreground object

How can I remove the out of focus leaf and keep the bird image. Inpainting does not seem to  solve  this. I have both raw  and jpeg files (Fuji)

I'd suggest hours of meticulous use of the clone tool, along with some repainting of missing elements by hand.

 

Sorry but there is no magic button.
