Hi i'm new to Affinity and i would like to know how to soften the edge when importing a subject to a photo, i.e i have followed a tutorial about masking and the join between the sky and horizon/building is sharp and you can see the join

Cheers

You can soften the edges of the masking shape by adding a Gaussian Blur effect. If you need detailed help with the procedure, please attach your *.afphoto file here.

There are many official tutorials on Vimeo - many of which will include information pertinent to this task (as there are various approaches).

Perhaps this 7 minute overview of cutting out and compositing would be a good place to start, unless (as @Alfred says) you have more specific needs and an example file to look at.
