sonicbomb77
Hello I'm new here and unfamiliar with marketing practices of serif.com. I noticed Affinity Designer is at v1.6 and often I've noticed software tends to end major version lifetimes before actually reaching v1.9.9 sub-versions. With that in mind, will existing users get Affinity Designer v2 for free or will they need to re-purchase access for it? In either case, does anybody know how long it may be until v2 is released and should I simply wait until then before buying? I didn't see any announcements about v2, but I may not be looking in the right places.
Staff MEB Posted November 15, 2017 Staff Share Posted November 15, 2017 Hi sonicbomb77, Welcome to Affinity Forums We have released every minor update since Designer was released without jumping any point release and will continue doing so until version 2.0 comes out so do expect versions 1.7, 1.8 and 1.9 before we reach it. Unless there's changes to the way the Mac App Store works version 2 should be a paid upgrade for all users (Windows versions mimic Mac prices/upgrade policy). Regarding waiting for it or not, that's up to you but it may still take quite a while until we reach v2. It took us three years to get to v1.6. All updates up to version 2 are free for current users.
