Spelling Options crashes Affinity Designer

Recommended Posts

Hi,

just purchased and installed Affinity Designer 1.6 and started using it. I've immediately noticed a bug/crash that is reproducible every time.

No matter which object is selected, going to "Text - Spelling - Spelling Options..." immediately crashes the app.

Attached please find a short video showing the bug in action, as well as the crash report from Console.app.

cheers,

felix

Hello lemonmojo, welcome to the Forums.

Was 1.6 the first version of Designer you have worked with? I believe this was an old bug that was fixed in time for 1.6. If you launch Designer with the ctrl key held down and click Clear, does this resolve the issue for you?

I previously had a trial version of Designer installed but I'm not sure which version it was.

Of course now that I try to reproduce the issue again, I'm unable to get it to crash. I just updated to the latest DP of 10.13.2 this morning so maybe something in the OS was causing this and was fixed in 17C76a.

I run into the same problem. Affinity Designer 1.6.1 on macOS Mojave 10.14.1. Opening "Text - Spelling - Spelling Options..." immediately crashes the app. I can see the spelling options dialog for a fraction of a second before the crash.

Hey Christoph Berger, welcome to the Affinity Forums.

Does the crash happen on an empty document? Does it only crash when there's a bad spelling in the document? Is there a crash report you can attach at all?
