msk
Hello, I am evaluating Photoshop alternatives and Affinity Photo look very good. I have a few questions I hope someone can answer: Does Affinity Photo have a lens correction feature similar to Lightroom or DXO Pro where it reads the EXIF data and automatically does the lens correction? Can Affinity Photo read Lightroom edits? I suspect not but I had to ask. Assuming not, can any former LR users share their experience moving from LR to Affinity. I realize this is not an apples to orange comparison but I would like to know what to expect. Regarding PSD files, I want to make sure I understand this, Affinity can read a PSD file including Layers, masks and the editing history made in Photoshop. I can then save in the Affinity format. Once I leave PS I am not going back. I saw the system requirements and that a minimum of 2GB of RAM is needed. What is the recommended amount of RAM to avoid performance issues. Thanks. Staff Callum Posted November 8, 2017 Staff Share Posted November 8, 2017 Hi MSK, Welcome to the forums 1. Affinity Photo does use automatic lens correction you can find a list of supported lenses here http://lensfun.sourceforge.net/lenslist/ 2. You can find information regarding this question in a thread I replied to two days ago here! https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/49534-lightroom-compatibility/ 3. That is correct Affinity Photo does support importing and exporting .PSD files however you can't export them with editable text. To import them with editable text you will need to Go to Affinity Photo Preferences, General section and check/tick Import PSD text as text rather than bitmap. 4. A minimum of 2GB is required for the app to run but I would recommend between 4 - 8GB to ensure smooth performance! Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.
