Hello, new here as a poster but I read this forum a lot! My problem: I downloaded a vector (Ugly Christmas Sweater). The preview did not have the lines in the pattern but whenever I open the file they are there. Can I get rid of these? When I zoom in some dimensions show up until I take my finger off the command key. not sure what that's

about but likely related? any help is appreciated :)

I am not sure what you mean by lines in the pattern. Are you talking about strokes on individual shapes or something else? Also, what was the format of the downloaded file?

I presume the OP is referring to the pale grey lines which are clearly visible in the bottom section of the pattern (and less clearly visible in the top section).

Oh, those lines! For the combination of a 27" display, the reduced screen brightness I was using earlier, my old eyes, & insufficient coffee they were not clearly visible, but I see them now. :)

@Glitterdude The Illustrator file that you attach is built in chunks (there are 9 small squares of knitting making up the overall big square).

It is the joins between these sections that are showing up as grey lines in Affinity. Rather than being grey lines they are infact tiny gaps through which the background page colour is leaking.

To solve the problem is straight forward…

Easiest / laziest method:  Draw a big red square the same size as the entire knitted pattern, put it to the back, and group.

A slightly tidier method: Ungroup the Illustrator file and delete 8 of the 9 small red squares, then resize the 9th to cover the whole shape of the knitted pattern.
