Crash trying to open preferences in AP 1.6.6

Recommended Posts

First of all, thanks a lot for the update! I tried the light GUI in AD and it's much easier on my eyes than the dark theme.

On both my iMacs (an older one at work, a new Retina one at home, both on macOS 10.13.1, German), AP crashes as soon as I try to open the preferences (from the menu or with Cmd+,).

I tried deleting the user .plist to no avail.

Here's the relevant part of the crashlog:

Photo worked for the first start. Then i clicked on preferences (photoshop plugins) to see, Nik-Collection is also workin. After that Photo crashed (on 2 Macs with 10.13.1). I did several restarts of the app. Now it crashes instant if i click on preferences. Now Photo is unusable for me. When will the next update coming?

I think I solved the issue:

- open Launch Pad

- Ctrl + click Affinity photo, the Clear User Data window will appear

- check only Clear User Defaults, uncheck the rest of the options

- click the Clear button.

Now the app starts without crashing and I can also navigate through the Preferences.

Thanks for this update.

It's a big trouble !!!
But I found an unsastify solution :
Go to : users/"your user name"/library/containers/
Delete OR Displace them, to save all of your previous setups  :
- com.seriflabs.affinityphoto
- com.seriflabs.affinityphoto.DevelopExtension
- com.seriflabs.affinityphoto.RetouchingExtension

In fact 1.6.6 can't recognize your previous version and all the setups in it.

For the moment, I can work but I lost all of my brushes and all of my scripts.
I hope they'll quickly find a solution to re-import our previous setups.

Thanks by advance.

This is a known issue and with development to investigate. It seems to be caused by having certain plugins installed. Would you be able to list which plugins you have installed?

Thanks

Thanks

I had no plugins installed only the free-macro-pack and a macro I created.

I also had the UI customised by repositioning some Studio panes, hiding\showing panes.

I had the Nik filters installed (may have been an older pre-Google version). I reinstalled them after using the ctrl-startup and deleting my user data. Now everything seems back to normal.

Not for me. ctrl + click doesn’t open the dialog (OSX 10.9). AP crashes on changing any UI preferences.

No plugins installed on AP.
