What's the different between these 2 type of child leyers?

The layers highlighted in red in your screenshot are masking the Pixel layer, the layer highlighted in green is clipped to your pixel layer :)

Just my opinion (& I know it is a feature request) but what would help greatly is if there was a clearer difference in the Layers panel between the two types of layers than the small difference in their indentations. On a large screen like on my 27" iMac, the difference in the indented distance is easy to overlook.

Maybe I am missing something but for me in Affinity Photo on my iMac, clipped layers do not show in the Layers panel when its parent layer is collapsed (other than their effect on the parent layer's thumbnail, of course).
