Which one I should choose with mac pro 6.1 8core D300?

+1 Using Mac Pro 6.1 D500. Cheers

This combo defaults to what we think will work best for most users on your OS. So you can try the Metal if you wish but the performance may be improved for some and reduced for other .afphoto files.  If you get glitching on "OpenGL" then try "OpenGL (Basic)"

Thanks, trying out Metal to see how it handles.

Cant open the beta: its missing an "app-store-version" - but i have the latest version installed (german langugue / OSX 10.11.4)!

EDIT: i found the "bug". My main-AP was not in the application-folder itself, it was in a subfolder. Replacing it to the original app-folder and the beta runs.

OSX 12.5  / iMac Retina 27" / Radeon Pro 580X / Metall: on! --- WWG1WGA WW!

So I have just updated to the latest app store version 1.6.6. and downloaded the 1.6.6-GM beta both into the main Application folder. However I get the same message that Polygenious got - 'missing app-store version', so I can't run the beta. Not critical now but would like to be able to run later beta versions.

When the version is shipped to the public, the corresponding/previous beta release won‘t work any more. You may delete it or wait, until a new beta release (newer than the public release) will be launched.

Understood, thanks.

@rp123

Welcome to the Serif Affinity Forum

The ver 1.6.6 trial for Affinity Photo should be uploaded already, where did you get it, was it on a page from a link in an email we sent?  If you email AffinitySupport@serif.com with a link to this thread we can send you a link to the latest trial .

No there are no discounts, but if you buy before the 16th November you get a lot of free content, that will not be available to purchases made after then.

great, thanks Patrick, i used the link in email which i got from signing up on the front page here: https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/signup/trial/photo/

just gave it a try again but same thing, still 1.5.2, will mail support and see if that helps.

My mistake probably, the photo trial may need rolling out to more than one download server. Thanks for getting back to me

How did it work?

So far so good. No glitches at all. Switched to metal on my dual graphics card 2015 MacBook Pro and seems good as well. I'll be working it again today on the Mac Pro that's still on Sierra (the MacBook pro is on High Sierra as a test machine).

To be honest, it seems far more responsive than PS and I prefer the way inpainting works. It seems to get it right 1st time whereas PS sometimes took several goes. Actually, there are a lot of little things that just seem to work better and, more useful. Glad I made the switch.... so far ;)
