[AP] Need to delete brushes from outside the app (no Library files on Mac)

Recommended Posts

HI there!

I've been struggling for hours trying to open Affinity Photo on my iMac, which it's freezing when I try to open it (reinstalling, safe boot and all that stuff didn't work). I identified the problem immediately after it happened:

  • I was creating a new brush
  • When I tried to load a texture, the program crashed
  • Then I re-opened AP, tried to load that texture again and AP crashed again
  • I didn't try to reload that texture again, because I figured out that it was causing the program to crash
  • I re-opened AP for a third time, and since then, the app freezes before it gets started

I wan't to know how to delete all my brushes manually from outside the program... As far as I know, there's no data stored in Mac's Library Folder right?, so I can't figure out how to delete that brushes and prevent AP to try looking for them when starting up... any idea on how to purge the cache would be helpful too.

Thanks in advance.

Hold Ctrl (on Windows, so I guess Option on Mac?) as you launch the app.

You then get the reset dialog, and can reset brushes.

Hope this helps.

In the Affinity apps, Ctrl on Windows is usually Cmd on a Mac, but in this particular case the Ctrl key is used on both. Although Option on a Mac is Alt on Windows, I believe that many (most?) Mac keyboards also have an 'alt' label on the Option  key.
