How do you alter the line properties of a shape?

Recommended Posts

Good question, Simon! The answer is not at all obvious, IMO: having drawn a shape with one of the Shape Tools, I had to hunt around quite a bit before I discovered that choosing the Pen Tool reveals a width control that you can use. And that doesn't answer your question about altering the line style; it may well be that this isn't currently possible in the iPad version (but I'd be only too pleased to be disabused of that notion, of course).

Thanks for that Alfred. Actually I may be able to give you something back for it after experimenting. I found that once I altered the width of the line using the pen tool, when I then selected the shape tool again it inherited the properties of the pen tool and I got a line of the same thickness as the one I made with the pen tool. It's a rather clunky workaround but hey! It's a workaround, and one I can put in the tutorial if needs be.

Thanks again,

Simon

Quick update. The line properties tool lies in the fx studio. You can do what you want with line there.

Thanks for the hint, but I can't see how to do it. :(

Thanks for the clarification, Simon. What I actually had in mind was changing the line style from solid to dashed or dotted, which I don’t think is currently possible in the iPad version.

I have found the way for this after experimentation and reading over this. Here is the way.

> Select pen tool and set your stroke.

> Now go to any shape tool and create the desired shape. The shape will retain your previous selected thickness.

> Anytime to edit back the stroke, switch to pen tool and alter the stroke thickness.

Hope this helps.
