Looking for Illustrator Functions

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I've got following issue:
I'd like to make a low poly logo according to this tutorial:

Currently I'm not sure how to make the triangles fit perfectly. Especially the edges. I want one node with e.g. five branches if you understand what I'm trying to say. From my point of view this is not possible in Affinity Designer. You can only create two independent shapes.

Is there also a live paint tool like in Illustrator?

I'm lokking gratefully forward to your answers

That is exactly what is happening in the video you linked. Each one of those triangles is a separate shape.

Use the Pen tool and put it into Polygon Mode.

There is no equivalent of live paint that I know of, but it should be pretty easy to select the triangles and add colour once you've drawn them - might take a few more clicks, that is all.

Nur in Illustrator I am able to use the same node twice

In the video, new nodes are being created at the same location as ones in existing triangles, but no node is being shared by two different triangles -- each one is an independent shape.

How can I realize this in AD?

As @Aammppaa said, put the Pen Tool in Polygon Mode. Use snapping to co-locate adjacent nodes.

I think the best snapping option for this task is shown in my image here…

Or you could use an appropriate size of grid for a more uniform arrangement.

The snapping options are very powerful, but take a bit of experimentation to fully understand. Also - read the help file, and watch some tutorial on snapping, shape creation, and the pen tool.
