Rakesh K
In Affinity Designer it seems there is no way to change the opacity of global colors. This is becoming frustrating when designing UIs. Opacity is an integral part of color schemes in Google's Material Design; it completely depends on opacity to create visual hierarchy. From Google's Material Design Guidelines: "Using opacity instead of shifting colors often creates better contrast and relative luminance. For example, gray text (#727272) becomes hard to read if the background color changes to magenta." Is this feature on your road map? midvok, thedivclass, lepr and 4 others
Pšenda
Hallo Rakesh, what is mean "global colors"? In Colour is not problem, in Swatches also. Edit: OK, "Global Colour" is predefined color preset (my ignorance :-), it work only Document group. For me is not problem save this color with Opacity settings. Problem is next editing - opacity can not change (this is certainly a pity). Same problem is for predefined Pantone color - you must make your copy. NefariousCreations
+1 This is actually causing me some trouble at the moment, I have a bunch of global set colors which I didn't realise had opacity set when I created them - now I can't find anyway to update them with recreating all my colors. If anybody knows of a another way to update these colors please let me know.
Aammppaa
Can't see any way to edit the opacity of Global Colours (after they have been created) - sorry. Hopefully the devs can fix this oversight in a future version. Remi McGill Audiokinetic
Yes please add a way to change the opacity of global colors after they are created, if I can't change the opacity after I create it then I can't safely use opacity in global colors lepr
Mordi
This is still an issue in 1.7.3.481. Would be very handy to be able to edit opacity of global colours. Rudolphus and Carlonike
midvok
Affinity 1.9.2 and still not possible to set opacity on global colors?! I just started to create icons theme and got stuck hard on this, when I'm unable to define global transparent colors to be used on all icons. loukash
+1 Definitely a flaw and not a "feature"! Workaround: create a new global swatch without opacity create a temporary object and apply the old swatch Select > Select Same > Fill Color or Stroke Color (at last with v1.9.x!) apply the new swatch midvok and Asao Tani 2 Quote MacBookAir 15": MacOS Ventura > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 16 > Affinity v2
fde101
The opacity is independent of the global color - the same global color can be applied to multiple objects and each can have a different opacity. After applying the global color to an object, you can adjust its opacity and tint from the Color panel without changing the fact that the color is global. I'll just add - as well as Noise. Although Opacity and Noise are set on the Color panel, they are not directly related to the "color", and therefore to the Global color. These are only parameters of how - with what coverage and what noise, a given color is applied to the object. Opacity and Noise should therefore be part of the Style, which should of course be editable. Therefore for me: -1 for a global color opacity setting, +10 for Styles editing. thedivclass 1 Quote Affinity Store (MSI/EXE): Affinity Suite (ADe, APh, APu) 2.4.0.2301 Dell OptiPlex 7060, i5-8500 3.00 GHz, 16 GB, Intel UHD Graphics 630, Dell P2417H 1920 x 1080, Windows 11 Pro, Version 23H2, Build 22631.3155.
