Need ability to change opacity of global colors in Designer

Recommended Posts

In Affinity Designer it seems there is no way to change the opacity of global colors. This is becoming frustrating when designing UIs. Opacity is an integral part of color schemes in Google's Material Design; it completely depends on opacity to create visual hierarchy. From Google's Material Design Guidelines: "Using opacity instead of shifting colors often creates better contrast and relative luminance. For example, gray text (#727272) becomes hard to read if the background color changes to magenta."

Is this feature on your road map?

Edit:

OK, "Global Colour" is predefined color preset (my ignorance :-), it work only Document group.

For me is not problem save this color with Opacity settings.

Problem is next editing - opacity can not change (this is certainly a pity).

Same problem is for predefined Pantone color - you must make your copy.

+1 This is actually causing me some trouble at the moment, I have a bunch of global set colors which I didn't realise had opacity set when I created them - now I can't find anyway to update them with recreating all my colors.

If anybody knows of a another way to update these colors please let me know.

Can't see any way to edit the opacity of Global Colours (after they have been created) - sorry.

Hopefully the devs can fix this oversight in a future version.
