SpongePudding
Hello Forum, Is it possible to create a logo that looks like a tile (see attached)? My image is 2048px x 2048px .png. Any help or advice would be much appreciated Regards Clive
Alfred
You can use the Rounded Rectangle Tool to create a square with rounded corners. To make it square instead of oblong, hold down the Shift key as you drag out the shape on the canvas. With the round-cornered square selected, go to the Effects panel in the Studio, expand the 'Bevel / Emboss' section and adjust the Radius (and the Opacity, if required) to get the effect you want. For finer control, click on the 'Layer Effects' gearwheel on the right to display a dialog with additional options. SpongePudding
Thank you Alfred. I've followed your instructions and I definitely get a bevelled edge. The thing is it looks rather flat and even if I add 3D to it, it still look like the image I posted. If it helps I do have Affinity Designer? SpongePudding
Taking another look at the image I posted, it looks as though it's not flat and gives the impression of being slightly angled so you can see the right-hand side face, which gives it depth. Does that makes sense?
Alfred
Try playing with the ‘Azimuth’ and ‘Elevation’ settings for the effect. gdenby
Hi, I started w. the same basic approach, adding 3d, bevel/emboss fx. Started duplicating the rounded rectangle. shifting it a bit to the side to fake thickness. Finally decided that the original had highlights that were drawn on. So I made several pen lines, varied the strok pressure, set different levels of blur and opacity. Came up w. something close. Inserted a wrong version of the image, can't seem to delete it. The first example is not finished... gdenby
lizziebenson, Attached, a shot of the logo inserted. No charge. Took like 5 minutes, maybe less. If you want the actual file, your price will be this: I'll let you have the button, but you have to figure out how toinsert the logo yourself. Got to go work on a house remodeling project new. toltec
Nice. Had you considered putting some emboss on the inside text ? Probably a bit less than I did. Quote Windows PCs. Photo and Designer, latest non-beta versions.
SpongePudding
Interesting. And something worse considering for sure. Thank you
gdenby
Well, you did it. As the saying goes, a journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step. It seems to me that getting rid of the drop shadow makes sense if you also want to get rid of the dark background. The current design flavors favors flat, so the illusion of 3-d is seen as distracting if it for anything that is a click point.
