It sounds like want you want is for Designer's tool to be more like Photo's, perhaps with a comparable context toolbar (& a second, "whole canvas" mode?) to provide the functions only Photo's tool provides. R C-R
Just now, Petar Petrenko said: Yes, but on object level. So I am back to asking how you would do canvas level cropping stuff in Photo if its crop tool was like Designer's & only operated on the object level. Actually, I have no idea exactly what you want either tool to do -- it sounds like you want both of them to do more or less the same things. As clipping an object already does all that, I don't suppose a dedicated button would be that hard. Quote Windows PCs. Photo and Designer, latest non-beta versions. Fixx
AD and AP are basically different apps and aimed for different things. In AP masking objects need to me more flexible than cropping in AD as AP is often used for composites of varying shapes, AD is often used for page layout where quick rectangular crops are more needed. But not on the whole canvas, unless an extra step to group everything was done. And it still would lack the useful if not well known capability of upsizing the canvas quickly & easily with a visual reference. And again, you seem to be talking about adding features to Designer's crop tool, not to Photo's. Yes, I am aware of all this, but a mixture of both "crop" tools would be great.
