markw
The FFT Denoise filter seems to be broken for me in Photo beta5. When I try to use it, in the Before/After view, the After view just shows an empty canvas chequer pattern. And if I click Apply, that’s exactly what get, an empty canvas! macOS 10.15.7 | 15" Macbook Pro, 2017 | 4 Core i7 3.1GHz CPU | Radeon Pro 555 2GB GPU + Integrated Intel HD Graphics 630 1.536GB | 16GB RAM | Wacom Intuos4 M
Staff Chris B Posted September 27, 2017 Staff Share Posted September 27, 2017 Hey markw, Have you tried it with other images? I've just tried it with 3 of mine and it seems okay. Do you have a sample document I could take a look at? markw
Thanks Chris, I’ve PM’ed you with a link to the troublesome file. macOS 10.15.7 | 15" Macbook Pro, 2017 | 4 Core i7 3.1GHz CPU | Radeon Pro 555 2GB GPU + Integrated Intel HD Graphics 630 1.536GB | 16GB RAM | Wacom Intuos4 M
Staff Chris B Posted September 27, 2017 Staff Share Posted September 27, 2017 Hey markw, It seems to be working for me. It's quite subtle but I can definitely see the difference. I'm at about 355% zoom in the attachment. This isn't the best example image to use but it's definitely doing something. I've attached another screenshot of a more appropriate image, along with the image itself for you to try. markw
That was a fast response! OK attached here is are some screenshot of what I consistently get with the file I sent you and the image that you posted above. As you can see in the After section, it’s just empty… Just to let you know I probably won't have internet access again till this Friday, so pleas forgive any delays in posting here on my part. macOS 10.15.7 | 15" Macbook Pro, 2017 | 4 Core i7 3.1GHz CPU | Radeon Pro 555 2GB GPU + Integrated Intel HD Graphics 630 1.536GB | 16GB RAM | Wacom Intuos4 M
Staff Chris B Posted September 27, 2017 Staff Share Posted September 27, 2017 Hrm, I've just tried the different renderers (Software, OpenGL and Metal) on Sierra and High Sierra and they all seem to be working. I noticed in your sig it says you are using an external monitor with your MBP—what screen are you viewing Affinity on? *Update* We seem to be getting a few rendering issues on the Windows version but only when we apply lots of brush strokes inside the FFT Denoise dialog but I can't get it to happen on the Mac. markw
Hello again, Actually I don’t have the second screen attached at present. I’m on the move a lot currently! Well after some poking around yesterday, for me at any rate, having Metal Acceleration turned on in AP’s preferences is causing the issue. If I turn it Off all is as it should be. macOS 10.15.7 | 15" Macbook Pro, 2017 | 4 Core i7 3.1GHz CPU | Radeon Pro 555 2GB GPU + Integrated Intel HD Graphics 630 1.536GB | 16GB RAM | Wacom Intuos4 M
Staff Chris B Posted October 2, 2017 Staff Share Posted October 2, 2017 Ah, that's a big clue. Thanks for the feedback. I'll do some poking and see what I can find. I'll get it reported to development if I can get a recipe to show them. *Edit* What GPU do you have? markw
Hi Chris, It’s a new Touch Bar Macbook Pro with a Radeon Pro 555 with 2GB memory. And automatic switching with an integrated Intel HD Graphics 630. I confess I have no idea which GPU is actually being used at any given time! macOS 10.15.7 | 15" Macbook Pro, 2017 | 4 Core i7 3.1GHz CPU | Radeon Pro 555 2GB GPU + Integrated Intel HD Graphics 630 1.536GB | 16GB RAM | Wacom Intuos4 M
Staff Chris B Posted October 3, 2017 Staff Share Posted October 3, 2017 Hey markw, I don't have the hardware (compatible GPU) available to me at the moment so I've asked if development could take a quick look for you. I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything! How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials
