Tom Schülke
Hi everyone, another question of my team, When i open a Document in Affinity Photo, would affinity Photo warn me when the document is allready in use, so two people simultaniously wouldn´t be able to accidentially change the same document and override the other one ? i think for bigger companys this should at last be an option in the settings to turn it on. is it allready possible ? thanks
Staff MEB Posted September 25, 2017 Staff Share Posted September 25, 2017 Hi Tom Schülke, Are you working on Mac or Windows? You shouldn't be able to open the same document simultaneously in two different apps, no matter if on a different computer or on the same (for example opening it in the Beta and the Retail version simultaenously). You will receive a warning message if you try to do it. Affinity doesn't store all document data in the file when it's loaded in the program, some data is placed somewhere else during editing (for performance reason), so having two computers editing the same file could lead to corruption. Staff MEB Posted September 25, 2017 Staff Share Posted September 25, 2017 This shouldn't be possible on the Mac. @dutchshader Are you running Windows? I will check it there. Staff MEB Posted September 25, 2017 Staff Share Posted September 25, 2017 Thanks dutchshader. I've just confirmed this and filled a bug report. You are able to open the file in a second program but you are not able to save it (it's read only), however we do not display a message/warning as we do on the Mac.
