nadrog
Hi, I'm comparing an original raw file with the PSD file that was created as export of edit of the raw in Affinity iPad (1.6.5). The PSD file is showing several dots (of various colors) - e.g. on top of the cloud in the attached screenshot of Lightroom full zoom compare of these two files (PSD from Affinity left, original raw on the right). The photo is from Panasonic GX7. The dots are visible in Affinity as well. Any ideas where this is coming from? Thx, G
Staff stokerg Posted September 25, 2017 Staff Share Posted September 25, 2017 Hi nadrog and Welcome to the Forums, I just downloaded a sample RAW file from a Panasonic GX7, exported as PSD and it's looking fine. Can you upload the original RAW file and the PSD file to here so this can be looked into further. All files will be deleted once the issue has been looked at. nadrog
Hi, Thanks! I uploaded the original raw, a screenshot right after this raw image is opened in Affinity photo, and the created PSD and aphoto files (from a different session - meaning that these two have additional changes, but interestingly, show the spots in apparently same places). Staff stokerg Posted September 27, 2017 Staff Share Posted September 27, 2017 Hi nadrog, Many thanks for the files. I've been able to replicate it on my iPad and confirm the same file in other programs opens fine. I've logged the issue with the Dev team and as soon as i have an update, i'll update this thread. Thanks again
Staff stokerg Posted October 19, 2017 Staff Share Posted October 19, 2017 Hi nadrog, I've just heard back from the Dev team on this. The Apple Core Image RAW on iOS doesn't remove dead pixels, which is what we are seeing with the dots. You can always use the Inpainting brush to remove the pixels once out of Develop. nadrog
Hi stokerg, do I understand it right that these are actually dead pixels on the sensor of my camera which are not removed by Apple's core image that is used by Affinity iPad? Thx, nadrog
Staff MEB Posted October 20, 2017 Staff Share Posted October 20, 2017 Hi nadrog, Yes, that's correct. Some software do remove them for you but that's not the case here. Point your camera to a bright surface, enable Live view (if necessary) and move the camera slowly. Dead pixels will always appear in the same spot when you move the camera. stokerg 1 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
