rafikiphoto
Coming from another RAW developer programme I have been used to being able to hover the pointer over a slider and using the mouse wheel to adjust that slider. I find it gives more precise control. That doesn't happen in Affinity Photo by default. Can it be made to do so?
Staff DWright Posted September 21, 2017 Staff Share Posted September 21, 2017 Hi rafikiphoto, If you place the mouse pointer on the value box at the end of the slider you can then use the mouse wheel to change the value

Thank you. That will do just fine.
R C-R
This works for almost all text fields. One place it does not is in the Studio Color panel for setting opacity or noise. Unlike other text fields, when you place the mouse pointer over that text field, it turns into the 'I-beam' insertion point cursor, as if you were in text entry mode. But that is not true -- you still have to click once to get the blinking insertion point cursor. I am not sure if this is an oversight, a bug, or what. rafikiphoto 1 Quote All 3 1.10.8, & all 3 V2.4.1 Mac apps; 2020 iMac 27"; 3.8GHz i7, Radeon Pro 5700, 32GB RAM; macOS 10.15.7 Affinity Photo 1.10.8; Affinity Designer 1.108; & all 3 V2 apps for iPad; 6th Generation iPad 32 GB; Apple Pencil; iPadOS 15.
rafikiphoto
Perhaps if you post it as a bug TPTB might confirm it as a bug or as a feature....

If memory serves, it was mentioned several years ago, but that might have been part of a feature request to change the overall behavior of that slider. It is unusual in several respects. For one thing, it is a dual function slider for setting both opacity & noise, but it is not obvious that to toggle between the two users must click on the color dot to the left of the slider. For another, in most text entry fields, if you are in text entry mode hitting the Return key exits that mode, but there it highlights the whole field.
