Staff MEB Posted September 15, 2017 Staff Share Posted September 15, 2017 Hi Tom Schülke, Go to menu Layer ▸ New Fill layer, change to the Gradient Tool, set the type to Bitmap in the context toolbar, select the image you want from the dialog and drag the tool over the canvas. You see.. i am at the moment giving tutorials to our architectural team, of about 300 People, to switch over from Adobe to afinnity, and the onger i look into your software the more i like it.. the only people who are still not totaly agreeing are some poweruser who do 3d Renderings with immages of 10000 to 10000 Pixel and dozens and dozens of layer , groups, masks and so on, thats the only area of affinity for us, affinity does still lack of some miner but crucial things. And in our case the only one outstanding feature is the fast way in adobe Photoshop, to strg+shift+ lmb click on one mask after the other to additively select several masks very fast.. but aside of this , there are only minor things like for example filling with a pattern, so this method could once again fill another minor gap for us in workflows... thanks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I don't know enough about coding, but I have to ask, why is this attached to the gradient tool and not the flood fill tool? Also Affinity Photo works well with photoshop brushes and photoshop plugins, but it doesn't work with patterns? Is there a reason behind this. Trying to stay away from Photoshop and Affinity really is a great alternative, but a few things are causing me hangups and patterns is one of them.
