Staff MattP Posted September 13, 2017 Staff Share Posted September 13, 2017 It's drawing the bar because that object is still symbolically linked to other instances of it (of which there are currently none!). If you'd got a number of instances of that symbol, then turned off syncing, dragged out the object to be outside the symbol, then it would have been still connected to the other instances if you turned syncing back on and changed its colour... I'm not convinced this is useful, but that's why it's still saying it's part of a symbol - because it's still linked to any other instances... Staff MattP Posted September 13, 2017 Staff Share Posted September 13, 2017 7 minutes ago, owenr said: Hmm... seems counterintuitive. Here's another puzzle. Create a symbol of an object. Create a second object not inside the symbol. Drag the second object's Layers entry inside the symbol instance so the object is now a member of the instance. Undo - the second object is back outside of the instance, but it is now an orange-gradient linked object! You can continue undoing and the object remains in its linked state until the step of its creation is undone. Why doesn't the first (or any) undo restore the state of the document to where that second object had nothing to do with symbols? That one's definitely a bug - the Undo should have returned it back to 'unlinked'... I'll look at that, thanks!
