skappley
Hello, I'm new here and just doing some first steps with Affinity Designer. I've seen a design where two layers were linked to each other so that both show the same content. Let's say layer A is linked to layer B. Layer A shows all elements from layer B. Editing layer B affects layer A as well, as it always shows what layer B currently shows. The example that I've seen uses this "layer linking" to scale a design down to different sizes. The layers list shows an orange colored line on the left side of linked layers. I didn't find out how I can create such a linking between layers. Does anybody know how this works and could please explain? Thanks, skap

From that, I think you are referring to Symbols, a feature of Affinity Designer. (Link is to the beta online version of the Symbols help topic in US English, but the same topic appears in the help system built into the app.) There is also an official Affinity video tutorial at https://vimeo.com/182383520 skappley 1 Quote All 3 1.10.8, & all 3 V2.4.1 Mac apps; 2020 iMac 27"; 3.8GHz i7, Radeon Pro 5700, 32GB RAM; macOS 10.15.7 Affinity Photo 1.10.8; Affinity Designer 1.108; & all 3 V2 apps for iPad; 6th Generation iPad 32 GB; Apple Pencil; iPadOS 15.
skappley
Hello R C-R Thank you so much! That's exactly what I've been searching for and your linked tutorial explains it very well. I just didn't know this feature was called "Symbols" and even didn't have the symbols view activated.
