Why is the K channel inverted?

Recommended Posts

The tones of most channels follow the tones of the original photo, ie the channel is dark where the original is dark and light where it is light. However the K channel is different:8FB115E9-85D5-462D-9D1F-4F588E1A9AC4L0001.thumb.jpg.e3d0532544b4c6515a214711290aae41.jpg

The image is inverted to what I expect (even though the thumbnails are not). Is there a reason for the inversion?

I've AP 1.6.4, iOS 10.3.3, iPad Air 2. I've seen this inversion for a few days, and it doesn't go away after I force close AP or power off my iPad. It's been consistent enough that I thought it was meant to be that way.

If I tap the ... beside 'background black' then it inverts. Tap again and it inverts again. Each time the main image is opposite to the thumbnails. And if I create a greyscale layer the greyscale layer is not inverted, ie it's the same as the thumbnails in the channels studio.

This isn't causing me any grief. Maybe it's because I'm in the Southern hemisphere.
