dperry90277
Humble request to Typographers, Can any of you show off your font designs? Give a story how you used AD to create your font(s)? How you converted AD to font (rtf, otf)? Im just wondering how it can be done... I'm not a typographer, but I want to learn Dennis
catlover
Dennis, To start with your last question: this cannot be done. Fonts are very special, you need a special program to create them. You do not specify whether you use AD for Mac or Windows or iPad, but whatever you use, you can find free font creator programs online, just perform a search. There are also font creator programs that work directly online. I use Typetool myself, it is not expensive & easy to use. I have created fonts by using this method : 1. create the shape of a letter, punctuation etc. in AD, 2. export as EPS, 3.import in Typetool and refine, 4.save as font in any format you wish. Typetool is a program that turns the "shape" you created with AD into a glyph, or you can create the glyphs directly with Typetool of course. When you have made all the glyphs, you can save them as a proper font. Typetool is made by Fontlab. Furthermore, there is lots of info on typography online, I suggest you search for Typography lessons. Good luck. Catlover
