Staying on move tool after pressing space bar

Recommended Posts

In moving objects with the Move Tool I go to various places on the doc by pressing the space bar. After letting go of the space bar I expect the cursor to return to the Move Tool, but it almost always goes to (or remains in) the View Tool (the hand). In my Preferences/Shortcut the shortcut for the View Tool is empty, so that is not the problem. Doesn't pressing the space bar simply allow one to freely move around in the doc rather than actually bringing up the View Tool?

It is time consuming that each time I press the space bar to move around the doc I must use my Move Tool shortcut ("s") to return to the Move Tool. Actually, often after letting go of the space bar and pressing my "s" shortcut, the shortcut does not work and I must use the Node Tool shortcut ("d") which does work---and then use the "s" to bring back my Move Tool. As far as I see there is no shortcut conflict. Might these issues be a bug in AD?

I just tried it and it works for me. Windows 1.5.3.69

I tried a few tools, Move, Pen, Node, Pencil and Brush. Every time pressing the spacebar swaps to the hand and straight back to the tool I was using when I release it.

You do not need to press any key. The spacebar only temporarily select the view tool whilst the spacebar is held down. Immediately you release the spacebar, the tool you were using reactivates, or should.

Maybe you need a reset? Hold down the control key whilst you launch Designer.

Windows PCs. Photo and Designer, latest non-beta versions.
