PeterPanino
I need to create a simple square with a simple dotted line. Until now I created the square but I did not find a "dotted line" option:
Staff MEB Posted August 25, 2017 Staff Share Posted August 25, 2017 Hi PeterPanino, Set the first value to 0.05 and the second to 1 or bigger (adjust the second value as necessary to increase the empty space between the dots). Set the third and fourth values to zero. You will also have to set the alignment to middle (and not to inside as in your screenshot). Seems there's a bug here preventing the full dots appear when the alignment is set to outside or inside. Checking this. PeterPanino
Thanks for the answer. I have set the Dash values now to 0 - 1 - 0 - 1 but nothing happens.
Staff MEB Posted August 25, 2017 Staff Share Posted August 25, 2017 You only have to fill the first two fields. Use the following values: 0.05 - 1 - 0 - 0 If you need to increase the space between the dots change the second field to 1.5 or 2 (or more as you see fit). PeterPanino
I have set now the Dash values as you said but still nothing happens:
Staff MEB Posted August 25, 2017 Staff Share Posted August 25, 2017 Let me check this on a Windows machine. Maybe there's some bug here. Can you also attach the afdesign file you are experimenting with here so i can check it out? Maybe i'm missing something here (a setting or anything similar). Thanks. A_B_C
If I may chime in here, you might want to set the Cap to Round or Butt. Otherwise you won’t see any effect, given the settings in your screen shot. Cap.mov
PeterPanino
You are right A_B_C, setting the cap to butt changes the line type. But now this is still not a dotted line:
A_B_C
I had edited my earlier post, since I missed the “Dotted” in “Dotted Line.” You must set Cap to Round. And maybe you should increase the second dash value, such that you have 0.05 – 2.
Staff MEB Posted August 25, 2017 Staff Share Posted August 25, 2017 Thanks A_B_C. Forgot to check check the cap. Was messing around the alignment bug - only half the line appears... PeterPanino
These Settings now gave the best results: A_B_C
A_B_C
Ah, square dots … yes, these are dots as well … I had imagined you would want to achieve round dots …

Sorry for creating confusion. A_B_C, if I set Cap to round the dots become rounded which looks ugly. Only with Butt Cap the dots are squared.
