pjarnold
Since it is rather difficult to impossible to see white objects on white paper, is there a way to view the vector lines in an outline mode?
Staff MattP Posted July 31, 2014 Staff Share Posted July 31, 2014 Hi pjarnold! At the moment, we don't have a wireframe view mode - although I do also really want one! I'll add one whenever I get a Friday afternoon free - so expect it hopefully soon! It has its own issues that need resolving, but it's fairly trivial in the scheme of things. Keep an eye out for it in future betas :) Thanks, Matt
Staff Andy Somerfield Posted July 31, 2014 Staff Share Posted July 31, 2014 As a workaround for now, use Document Setup to turn off the white background :) AndyS
Dave Harris
Or add a background layer filled with a rectangle of any colour you want. (Lock it to prevent it being accidentally selected, and make it invisible before printing or exporting.)
dooovy
Hi, yes a wireframe view is essential, thanks
retrograde
I'll second or third this. Quote http://www.kevincreative.com https://www.behance.net/kevincreative https://dribbble.com/kevincreative https://www.instagram.com/kevincreative/
Staff MattP Posted August 2, 2014 Staff Share Posted August 2, 2014 I've had a quick stab at this over the last hour and I've come up with this so far - there's more to do, but just to prove we're listening to your requests and working on them as hard as we can, I thought I'd share a screenshot!... :) Dale
Staff MattP Posted August 2, 2014 Staff Share Posted August 2, 2014 ...and just to add a little more, is this functionality ever likely to be useful? :) (it's split-screen with a wireframe/standard view - can also be set to mirror) rui_mac and Andy Somerfield
rui_mac
YES!! And the mirror option will be quite useful too. You guys rock!! :-D
davidpwrmc
....And I'll fourth or fifth this! :) The split screen wireframe and standard option would be VERY useful and desirable to have access to! - David
retrograde
I'm gonna chime in here and say "sweet" Dale 1 Quote http://www.kevincreative.com https://www.behance.net/kevincreative https://dribbble.com/kevincreative https://www.instagram.com/kevincreative/
Staff MattP Posted August 3, 2014 Staff Share Posted August 3, 2014 It might not be 100% finished before the beta on Tuesday, but I've added this to the current codebase earlier this afternoon so you guys can have a look :) Andy Somerfield

retrograde
Another aspect of this that is handy in that "other" app is the ability to hide edges or outlines when selected. Sometimes it's crucial to edit a shape but not have the shape edges highlighted because the highlights interfere with the visual of the element you're working on... is this a possible feature down the road? To be selected but not appear to be...? Metryq
Someone's going to lose a lot of subscriptions over this app. I'm very excited about Affinity Designer and the other announced Mac apps. I signed up for this forum just to ask about a vector/wireframe mode, and here the developer is already chasing it with a vengeance. Staff MEB Posted August 9, 2014 Staff Share Posted August 9, 2014 Another step above the competition. Nice twist'n'mix :) Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software | Affinity Quick Reference
retrograde
Yes I've been working on a piece over the last few days and this feature works like a charm, but eventually a keyboard shortcut will really make this production ready. Currently going to the menubar every time is not ideal and if you want split screen (which is freakin awesome btw) it's a 2 step process. One to turn on outline view, one to enable split view. Again I think the allowance of custom key shorts will smooth out some of the wrinkles here and in other places, but for a first effort it's jaw dropping!
