Shapes - Alt + Add gives a different shape

Recommended Posts

If i click on two shapes and press the "Add" button, it combines them fine. (see eg1)

if i hold Alt and do the same thing hoping it'll keep the original shapes in layers when combining, it does that but gives me something completely different to the first attempt not pressing Alt. (see eg2)

Hi Rebekah,

Regarding the tutorial issue this is due to a bug with Smart nodes. To work around it, select the bigger shape, change to the Node Tool and drag a marquee selection around all its nodes, then click on the Smooth Node type in the Convert section oncontext toolbar right above the work area to covert them all to smooth nodes. You can then perform the non-destructive boolean operation (compound) as described in the video tutorial.
