MikeW
Hello, Y'all. It was suggested I ask this question here on the forum. Does Affinity Designer support OpenType features, alternates, ligitures, etc. Thank you, Mike
Staff Dave Harris Posted July 30, 2014 Staff Share Posted July 30, 2014 It currently supports glyph substitution, but not OpenType glyph positioning. So you get ligatures etc, and you get auto-kerning if the font provides kern tables, but you don't get auto-kerning if the font uses OpenType for it, and you don't get fancy repositioning of accents etc. We plan to support glyph positioning fairly soon (but not necessarily before release). We are aiming for professional quality text rendering.
MikeW
Thanks for the reply. So no GPOS table support like the hitherto Serif applications. I could live with that on all but some fonts where GPOS are the only kern tables present. The question had been raised on an Xara forum. I was the guinea pig for asking here. I wish Serif the best in this line of software. Makes me *almost* want to get a Mac... Take care, Mike
