damogran
hi there, i've an issue with an EPS a friend of mine provided. it was created in illustrator and looks perfectly sharp, however once opened in affinity designer some of the lines (one example would be the chin) get blurry. also the color gets a strange red tint (the original color is grey) why is this EPS not sharp in Affinity Designer? Thank you! Damo pt.eps
MikeW
It is crisp as long as it is still vector. I don't know about the actual file that was made, the how it was made, but what is happening is that everything is a "kiss fit" rather than shapes being ontop of other shapes. So for instance, if you slightly move that darker part of the chin line, there is a "hole" through the lighter color. Assuming that's not how it is made, you may be able to have the person place the colored objects on their own layer, export as a PDF and get it into AD in better shape as then there will not be a kiss fit to the pieces (assuming that the file is made without them). You can add a thin outline to the upper most pieces that is the same color as the fill if nothing else. Mike
damogran
Hi Mike, thanks a lot for your reply. actually both worked. adding an outline or putting an object underneath two "kissing" objects with the appropriate color. So the problem itself is fixed, but i'm still wondering why everything seems crisp when opened in illustrator. thank you! nils
Staff MEB Posted August 16, 2017 Staff Share Posted August 16, 2017 Hi damogran, The objects in the EPS remain as vectors and they look as sharp as in Illustrator. The colour issue is due to us importing the file as CYMK (the original is RGB). I will pass this to the dev team to be looked at. Regarding the crispness, the thin white lines you are seeing around the shapes may be contributing to this. The fact that the colours shifted to a redish grey may be also contributing for it being perceived as less sharp (lower contrast against white) then when viewed in Illustrator.
