This is about an AD doc that I have worked on for some time and used Save As to create a daily copies. I have done this hundreds of time and each time the new copy is precisely the same as my previous doc, and the Doc Setup numbers are of course the same. Today I have done this, taken out various layers, and saved it with a new name and then deleted some layers, only to find that my Doc Setup numbers have changed.  I closed AD and brought it up again with fresh files and found this had again happened.

Then I took a closer look and found that the Doc Setup in my original doc was not locked. When I locked it and went through the same process, the Doc Setup docs remained the same. This leads me to believe that there is something about taking out selected layers after duplicating the doc that would allow the change if the Doc Setup were not locked. Is that true?

If so, this may cause some real problems for some users, and a warning perhaps should be added when closing the Doc Setup. Thus this question.

I do not understand what you mean by "Document Setup numbers" or locking the Document Setup. What numbers are you talking about? How do you lock the Document Setup?
