Nityanandachandra
I have followed several tutorials on YouTube regarding creating transparent text images using Affinity photo desktop version. But I cannot seem to do the same on the ipad version. For example how can one make a selection using the text layer? I imagine that the majority of users would like to make imagery with text (perhaps for their business) rather than only spicing up photos. Staff stokerg Posted August 14, 2017 Staff Share Posted August 14, 2017 Hi Nityanandachandra, Please see the attached screenshot from Photo on my iPad. I just opened the image i wanted to use to fill my text and then using the Artistic text tool, entered the text. Then using the Layers panel, i dragged the text layer on top of the Background layer and now the text is filled with the image.
Nityanandachandra
Thank you very much. I am following this tuturial but I am getting stuck on the step at 8:27. It involves making a selection out of text and then converting it into a mask. I have got that far but I cannot seem to past this point. The audio is German but it has subtitles
Staff stokerg Posted August 15, 2017 Staff Share Posted August 15, 2017 You'll need to switch to the Selections Persona and then use the Smart Selection Brush to select the text. Make sure you are on the text layer when doing this and just single tap the letters, you may have to tap more than once to get it selected and it may be trial and error until you get a perfect selection. Once you've done got it selected, you can then tap on the New Mask icon and a mask will be created.
Nityanandachandra
Quote Select the text layer in the Layers Studio, change to the Pen Tool and tap To Selection on the context toolbar on bottom. This will convert the text to a selection. You can then convert it to a mask, tapping the mask icon on the top of the Layers Studio. As far as i know currently there's no way on iPad to load a selection from a layer as the desktop version. - MEB This is answer worked perfectly. This I received in a different thread. stokerg
