tnuag
Is the Windows version of Affinity Designer able to export work as dwg or dxf file formats?
Staff MEB Posted August 8, 2017 Staff Share Posted August 8, 2017 Hi tnuag, Welcome to Affinity Forums No, Affinity Designer doesn't support DWG/DXF import/export. Those formats are frequently requested and may be considered for inclusion later in a future version. EDDY
I love creating logos, icons etc using affinity designer... but I need to export DWG/DXF to do 3D motion graphics. C'mon... it's been request for 2 years now!
R C-R
8 hours ago, EDDY said: C'mon... it's been request for 2 years now! There are dozens of features various users have requested for the last two years or more, most touted as "must haves" by one group or another. There is no way they all could be implemented in that time frame, or even one considerably longer. Many of these things did not appear in Adobe or other comparable products until much, much longer than two years after those products were first released. Even not considering the relative sizes of the companies, it is unrealistic to think Serif/Affinity is going to do that much better. blh
DXF/DWG Import/Export capabilities are by far more important than just a "must have" feature. We have to exchange files with some professional partners every week, and most of them work with DXF/DWG file formats. I am very disappointed by the way the app evolve in the past two years. Affinity Designer seemed to be very attractive at the beginning as a very promising vector software, but important features requested for a while are still missing. Maybe there are too much developments in the pipe, and unfortunately I am afraid that things will not improve in the coming months because of a growing number of targets (apps available for desktop and mobile platforms, and for both Windows and MacOS systems, a huge time-consuming effort for the dev team). lepr
tnuag
Until DXF/DWG import/export are available sadly Affinity Designer is not usable by my company - these formats are essential to transfer data to Catia CAD.CAM which is an industry standard. blh
