Cunningham
Hello Apologies if this has been asked before. If so someone could point me in the direction of a tutorial video Attempting to recreate the woman in this shape on the attached image Really not sure how to go about it. Trying to get images behind (or on top) of my pixel layer within a designed shape Cheers! -Cunningham
Staff MEB Posted August 8, 2017 Staff Share Posted August 8, 2017 Hi Cunningham, Welcome to Affinity Forums Use the shape tools or the Pen Tool to draw the shape you want, then drag the image layer (the woman) over the shape layer (not over its thumbnail but over the area on the right) in the Layers panel to use the shape you draw as a clipping layer. The image will then be only visible inside the boundaries of the shape. Cunningham
Is there a way to blur the edges of the shape without it blurring the woman? Thanks again
Staff MEB Posted August 8, 2017 Staff Share Posted August 8, 2017 Yes, but we have to use masking instead of layer clipping. Ignore my previous instruction and do this way instead: draw the shape you want and fill it with any colour (this is important - the shape must be filled with any colour) drag the shape layer over the thumbnail of the image layer in the Layers panel (you should see a small vertical blue bar on the right of the thumbnail while you are hovering it - release the mouse button at that point) to use it as a vector mask click the arrow to expand the layer if necessary, select just the vector mask clicking over its thumbnail in the Layer panel and press the Layer Effects button (FX) on the bottom of the Layers panel apply a Gaussian Blur to the vector mask Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software | Affinity Quick Reference
