blacks keep changing to a faded black

Recommended Posts

Hi James,

Are you using Designer or Photo? It sounds as though you might be inadvertently changing from RGB to CMYK. Are you able to provide us with some reproducible steps or a screen recording showing the problem?

Unfortunately without really knowing what you're doing there isn't much I can really suggest. However as soon as it happens take a look at your history entries - you should be able to tell by the last entry or two what you've done. Next time it happens would you be able to reply to this thread with a full screenshot showing your document and the contents of your history panel please?

This is definitely using CMYK black (which is not a solid black), however there is a bug in the current release version that means RGB values are not showing correctly when switching to RGB. If you select RGB for that colour it should show as 35, 31, 32. This has now been corrected in the beta version. To get your colour back to black ensure RGB sliders are shown and then just adjust them to be 0,0,0 (even if they show that, just edit 1 and then send it back to 0).

However this is not why your colours are changing - unfortunately that remains a mystery. As I said keep an eye on the History tab when it happens and it should give you an indication as to what commands have been done.
