Affinity Photo Customer Beta - 1.6.4 (Beta 3)

Recommended Posts

  • Staff

Status: Beta Release

Purpose: New features, fixes

Requirements: Purchased Affinity Photo

Mac App Store: Not Submitted

Download: Here

This is the third beta of a substantial change to our codebase and as much as we have tried to ensure the quality of the code, it should be considered to be not suitable for production use. This means that you should not attempt to use it for commercial purposes or for any other activity that may be adversely affected by the application failing. In addition it is definitely worth noting that files created in Affinity 1.6 may not open in 1.5 so always make a copy of your important documents before opening them in 1.6 to ensure you do not accidentally overwrite them and are unable to open them in your 1.5 version.

To use this beta, simply download the file from the link given above and double-click on the file to open the installer. Follow the instructions to install the beta version. The beta sits alongside the Mac App Store version and will not interfere with it.

Thanks,

Affinity Photo Team

It's not a bug, but ... the localization could be revised. The english version is ok. And there are still grid lines when using live vignette filter and live shadows/highlights filer. And the app crashes when saving. iMac, El Capitan.

I have been able to export by selecting an alternative Preset for .jpeg. As well as with .png 8 setting. Probably, the default Preset(s) is/are a little bit corrupt.

Crashes every time I try to export an image. Mac OS X 10.12.6.

I'm having the same problem on 10.11.6 tried .png and .jpeg bombs every time.

Seems ok saving page as a slice in export persona -

A bit of a list for the current beta (3).

Bug

32-bit features

When stitching 32-bit images the colour / gamma information gets messed up. Also there is no OCIO support in the stitcher, so it'd be hard to see what you're looking at once the colour flattening bug is solved.

Wishlist

16-bit half-float

It's one of the cornerstones of the ACES spec that some facilities require. So an input / output would be great.

For input it should be recognised as 16-bit half-float and be treated as such, not as 32-bit float.

It would still be in a 32-bit float space inside of Affinity but properly imported and exported.

I'm coming across this now more often with ACES work. Some game texture artists use this format in their pipeline as well. So it's a broader group that has a need for it.

OCIO implementation

An option to read the colour space from the EXR would be great and more reliable than do it by filename. Also have an option to set it during file export. This could be simplified with the OCIO settings file I suggested before. Setup once, fire and forget. It would also solve the current issue with EXR export crashes when a space isn't specified in the filename.

I was amazed that the iPad version had a stacking mode (Outlier) that version 1.5.2 of the Mac Desktop didn't yet have!  I created a 7 image stack in beta 1.6.4 (Beta 3) and it crashed when I exported to jpg format using the same root name as the original file.  However when I added .jpg to the root file name (e.g. Filename.jpg) it did not crash.  Shouldnt the app be able to distinguish between an existing .afphoto file and a .jpg?
