Please develop a page layout application

Recommended Posts

Quark has been dying a slow death for years and now that it has been acquired by Parallax Capital Partners - it may be finished. Quark lost a lot of its users to Adobe due to its poor service and arrogant attitude. That means there's only one pro page layout application - Adobe's InDesign - and I think that a great many users would like to move away from it.

You've already got two of the trinity with photo and design. Just one more to make it complete.

Affinity Publisher is in the works. In a rush of enthusiasm it was originally announced much too early, but the public beta should be with us before the end of this year.

Really? Quark is gonna die because an equity firm sold its stake to another equity firm?

The whole Quark was so bad to its customers thing was true. I still made money using it (and ID). But that period was well being turned around by the time the first equity firm bought Quark. They in turn strengthened both the brand and the products  (which are more than QXP). The new equity group is likely going to further build on that success and will, also likely at some point, sell the brand again. Neither equity firm are "strip & and rip" firms.

It will take years of APub being developed before it is a competitor to ID or QXP. So you better keep that computer running CS6 running or keep paying Adobe that monthly sum. Or, one could buy Viva Designer or put up with Scribus of course.

Good luck.

Mike
