Hi.

I'm a beginner to Affinity and I'm trying to sharpen up the edges of a logo.  I'm setting the image up with 300dpi as it will need to be printed (attached)

* The "red PI in a circle" was imported as a PNG files and seems to pixelate at the edges.

*The text seems to be able to maintain resolution.   The blue "Active" logo seems to be able to keep resolution.

*There seems to be a good video for Affinity photo, but my Affinity Photo has a bug so none of the tool icons are rendering on the app.  Thus if you could provide assistance on Affinity Designer that would be appreciated.

It is unlikely that there is a bug that would prevent all the tools in Affinity Photo from working. Much more likely is that you have not selected a layer the tools will work on, or have selected no layer at all.

Some tools work only on pixel layers, which are those that include a "(Pixel)" suffix in their names in the Layers panel. Pixel-based tools will not work on vector object layers (like curves & shapes) or on Image layers. You can convert any kind of vector or image layer to a pixel layer through the "Rasterize..." option but as Fixx says, you will get much better (& far sharper) results if everything in the logo is composed of vector & text layers.

From your description, the round blue logo is probably already composed of vector shapes, so the only things you may need to change to vector shapes are the red parts of the pi logo & possibly the red text.
