Sharkey
The instructional videos I try and use stat with one layer open market (pixel). My open layer after developing is marked Background (pixel) Why the difference and is that why I cannot get the 'quick mask' method to work? As usual a simple answer and if poss. instruction would be invaluable. toltec
Both are Pixel layers, so no difference. Just the name. If you click on the layer name, you can call it what you want. When you select Quick Mask, did you select a paintbrush, with white paint ? Affinity wont select a paintbrush by default when you launch Quick Mask. Quote Windows PCs. Sharkey
I've added Gauzian Blur to my selected background. I looks OK enough to use. At least the mans face is not recognisable. At least the mans face is not recognisable. You can select the area you want, invert the selection to blur the rest but a very good way to blur is the Depth of Field filter. Layer > New Live Filter > Depth of Field Filter You can set the position the blur starts from (by dragging on the handles) the radius of the unblurred part the amount of blur etc. You dont have to go through all that selection and masking stuff and you get a nice smooth blur. Original Blurred version, subtle but you can blast it if you want Quote Windows PCs. Photo and Designer, latest non-beta versions.
Sharkey
Thank you for that - I will use your suggestion in future. In this case I was looking to isolate the subject quite clearly from the back ground rather than affect some field depth. This was the outcome. I had chosen my widest aperture but the people in the background remained annoyingly clear. Without f1.8 telephoto (£) it is something I will need to do in the future quite often hence the need for a quick, simple method. Regards. Sharkey
When the red overlay is visible I select the paint tool with all settings at 100% and colour on white - see screen grab.
