iPad: See Layer in Isolation – like Option-Click

Recommended Posts

Hi pbass,
As far as i know there's no way to isolate a layer in the iPad version other than hiding all other layers in the Layers Studio. The ⌥ (option/alt) modifier isn't working with a wireless keyboard/ Apple Smart Keyboard as far as i can tell since keyboard shortcuts weren't fully implemented in the iPad version yet.

Thanks MEB.

Boy, that is a feature I use constantly, on desktop. :^/

It's the quickest way to compare your work to your original;

and lets you compare the current histogram to the original.

I would really like layer isolation to be available on iPad,

even when no keyboard is attached.

Audio mixing desks/boards (which let you blend tracks or channels – like layers)

have an isolation feature called Solo – there's usually a button labeled with an 'S', on each channel strip.

That'd be massively helpful for Layers.

Cheers,

- pbass

Since there is no keyboard, why not to add a solo icon to the layer menu?

Yes, some kind of icon on the Layers palette would be great.

Only a minority of graphics people keep a keyboard connected to their iPad – otherwise most of us would just use a laptop.

Keyboard connected to iPad is an oxymoron. It simply creates an inferior laptop. Get a laptop with the detachable touch screen. The reason it's sold is just the gadget madness.

This has been possible for some time now on iPad.

So @Patrick Connor was right, in a way. There is no news on this popular feature because it’s been available for so long that it isn’t exactly news! :P
